These APIs are built on top of block chain protocols, and they provide application developers with access to data stored on the blockchain itself and other “off-chain” data.

Data is decentralized. It is stored on a distributed and immutable ledger.

Once an application developer has access to this data, they can use it in any way they want. They can combine different datasets and create whatever kind of applications they want.
